Man murdered in Troy

By Tammy Dunn

An ongoing dispute between individuals led to the shooting death of 21-year-old Jaquan Baldwin in the early hours of Friday morning. Shyquarn Little, 22, of Troy has been charged with Baldwin’s murder.

According to Troy Police Chief Kenny Allen, Baldwin was still alive when officers arrived on scene. Emergency medical personnel were working on Baldwin, preparing to fly him to a trauma center when he died. Allen said Baldwin was able to identify his shooter to two different individuals prior to his passing.

The suspected shooter, Little, initially fled the scene but turned himself in to authorities Friday night. He is being held without bond at the Montgomery County Jail on a charge of first-degree murder.

Troy police officers were called to the intersection of South Pearl and Williams streets in south Troy for a gunshot victim at 1:44 a.m. Friday morning. Upon arrival officers found a small gathering including Baldwin, who was lying on the side of the road.
